Over the years, Jensen Industries has built a reputation as one of the manufacturers most concerned about equipment safety, quality, accident prevention and reliability. Our equipment is designed and manufactured to meet the most rigid standards currently in effect in the industry.

The Bad News

Proper and consistent maintenance of process equipment is an industry wide problem, as is hiring and retaining skilled operators and maintenance personnel.

Inadequate maintenance may lead to an increase of equipment failures and accidents involving explosions and fires. The personnel originally trained to operate and maintain your equipment when it was purchased may no longer be employed. Safety and instruction manuals are lost, and safety devices tampered with and often bypassed.

As a user of industrial oven equipment, it is your responsibility to properly inspect and maintain your equipment as well as provide training for operators and maintenance personnel.

What You Can Do

We strongly recommend that you immediately evaluate your existing operating equipment so that it may be brought into full compliance with the 1999 NFPA 86 Oven and Furnace Standard, and review your equipment to determine if it is being used for its originally designed purpose.

How We Can Help

Should you require assistance in determining whether or not your equipment is in compliance with the NFPA Standard, please call us to schedule an on site inspection. We also provide operational and maintenance training and safety instruction on proper usage of equipment.

What the Pictures Show

A standard "tongue and groove" insulated oven panel expands during oven operation allowing process fumes to migrate into the oven panel joint area.

These oven panels also contain slots in the side channels to reduce through metal. These slots in the oven panel side channel will allow fumes to enter the oven panel and contaminate the oven insulation with combustible residue. This material will build up over a period of years (8-10) until it reaches a point where it is able to auto ignite destroying the oven insulation. This type of fire is also very difficult to extinguish and can generate a lot of smoke.

These illustrations are a few of the fires and explosions that occurred in process equipment where we assisted the insurance companies and their clients in cause and origin investigations.
